WNLC 1510 New London.
From what I can gather, WNLC (AM) signed
off in November 1998.
The FCC has a cancelled license status
date of 11/03/98.
WNLC had an FCC identifier of 48548
On April 01, 1998, Hall Communications
changed the call sign to WWJY.
WNLC operated from 8 towers,
6 inline and 2 inline.
As you can see from the topo map depicted
below
which I obtained from Topozone.com
You can cleary see six towers depicted in a array with a building between
the #3 & #4
towers. And behind them two towers.
On April 30, 2006, I travelled to the site to see what , if anything, remains, and here is what I found...
This is the concrete pad where the old transmitter building used to
stand.
Looking east , here you would have seen 3 of the 8 towers.
Here is the view looking west, here you would have seen 5 of the 8
towers.
Here is the base of the eastern most tower.
The next tower inline.
The next one after that.
This is the fourth tower foundation of the six inline, you can clearly
see the grounding bond marks.
this one someone apparently tried to pull out of the ground.
The 5th tower, you can see wooden supports where the tuning house would
have been supported
The farthest west tower base of the six inline.
This is the base of the east tower of the two rear towers.
This is the base of the west tower of the rear two towers
Here is another tower base located near the one I just mentioned above.
There is a second one of these near here either.
However neither of these have fencing or wiring to them so I am unsure
what their purpose was.
Here is the view looking west from the eastern most tower.
After the towers were dismantled, the guy wires with insulators were
left around the site.
(with a ton of garbage, this appears to be a popular dumping ground)
Another view looking back at the entire property.
As time goes on, I am going to try and find some pictures of the array in it's original mode.
